2026 Tall Timbers interview series begins June 8

The University of Alaska Fairbanks will launch the 2026 Fairbanks Tall Timbers interview series on June 8.

The nine-week series is presented by UAF Summer Sessions and Lifelong Learning and honors people with longtime service to the Fairbanks community. Former journalist Tom Hewitt will lead the weekly discussions at 7 p.m. on Mondays at the BP Design Theater, located on the fourth floor of the Usibelli Building.

The presentations are free and open to the public. Parking on the Troth Yeddha' Campus is free after 5 p.m. Interviews will be livestreamed on the events page and made available as videos on the summer sessions website within two weeks of the live event.

Honorees in the 2026 Tall Timbers series include:

  • June 8 - Peggy Carlson, literacy advocate
  • June 15 - Willie Blackburn, school counselor, musician and actor
  • June 22 - Darrin "Bear" Edson, UAF operations superintendent emeritus
  • July 7 - Emily Ennis, Fairbanks Resource Agency executive director
  • July 13 - Corlis Taylor, public health advocate and fiber artist
  • July 20 - Shellie Foint-Anderson, public health nurse manager
  • July 27 - Cathie Harms, wildlife biologist
  • Aug. 3 - Jane Atkinson and Doug Toelle, reindeer ranchers
  • Aug. 10 - Robert Hannon, public radio journalist
