What's open on campus this winter break?

See when you can visit the campus store, Shalala Student Center, and other campus hotspots.

Now that Fall 2025 semester is over, here's a look at the facilities and services that will be open, closed, or operating on a limited schedule during the winter break.

Holiday schedules can differ, depending on your assigned area of the University of Miami. Check out this year's holiday schedule to know which days your respective campus is open, and review the end-of-year pay schedules.

Look ahead and review the latest edition of the academic calendar for the Spring 2026 semester, which includes dates for upcoming housing availability, registration, and spring recess.

Dining

Coral Gables Campus

Most dining halls are closed starting Thursday, Dec. 11, 2025 through Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026. The Mahoney-Pearson and Centennial Village dining halls reopen on Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026. Visit UM Dining's website or @umdining on Instagram for the most recent information about all the campus food options.

University Libraries

Otto G. Richter Library


  • Saturday, Dec. 13 through Tuesday, Dec. 23:
    • Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
    • Sundays, noon to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Dec. 26: CLOSED
  • Wednesday, Dec. 31, and Thursday, Jan. 1: CLOSED

Louis Calder Memorial Library (Medical)

  • Monday through Friday: 6 a.m. to 12 a.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Thursday, Dec. 25, and Thursday, Jan 1: CLOSED

Below are the hours of operation for some of the most visited locations on the Coral Gables Campus.

Donna E. Shalala Student Center

  • Friday, Dec. 12, through Sunday, Jan. 11: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Sunday, Dec. 28: CLOSED
  • Monday, Dec. 29, and Tuesday, Dec. 30: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 1: CLOSED

Norman A. Whitten University Center

  • Friday, Dec. 12, through Sunday, Jan. 11: 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Sunday, Dec. 28: CLOSED
  • Monday, Dec. 29 and Tuesday, Dec. 30: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 1: CLOSED

UC Pool

  • Thursday, Dec. 11, through Monday, Dec. 22: noon to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Dec. 26: CLOSED
  • Saturday, Dec. 27, through Tuesday, Dec. 30: noon to 5 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 31, and Thursday, Jan. 1 CLOSED
  • Friday, Jan. 2, through Sunday, Jan. 11: noon to 5 p.m.

Campus Store

  • Store hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, but closed on weekends and on Dec. 24, 25, and 26. Click here to learn more.

Wellness and Recreation

The Patti and Allan Herbert Wellness Center is open from Monday, Dec. 15, through Sunday, Jan. 11, 2026, and will observe the following schedule:

  • Weekdays, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Weekends, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The center will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and Thursday, Dec. 25; and Wednesday, Dec. 31 and Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026.
