FVSU CDEP Partners with Imola Automotive USA, LLC to Enhance STEM Education and Workforce Development

Fort Valley State University (FVSU) CDEP and Imola Automotive USA, LLC, an innovative electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on STEM education and workforce development.

This collaboration, facilitated by FVSU's Cooperative Developmental Energy Program (CDEP), aims to provide scholarships, internships, and career opportunities for students, further shaping a highly skilled workforce in the growing EV industry.

Imola Automotive USA's CEO Rodney Henry expressed his excitement for the future, stating, "What moves me is seeing students transform into leaders with the skills to succeed. We're proud to bring the first EV company to this area and create job opportunities that can uplift families and the community."

Imola Automotive plans to establish its first EV plant on Julius Simmons Street, near FVSU's campus in Fort Valley, Georgia.

Isaac J. Crumbly, Ph.D., founder of CDEP, highlighted the significance of the agreement, noting, "This represents a monumental moment for FVSU and CDEP's legacy of developing STEM leaders. Imola's support will equip our scholars with the tools to lead in the development of zero-emission vehicles."

FVSU recognized the collective effort behind making this vision a reality, extending special thanks to alumni Dr. Lawrence Marable and Dr. Ronald Adams for their crucial support. The signing event was also attended by Fort Valley Mayor Jeffrey Lundy and members of the city council, demonstrating the strong community backing behind this initiative.

Olufunke Fontenot, Ed.D., provost and vice president of Academic Affairs, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the broader impact on the workforce. "This collaboration reflects our university's commitment to strategic partnerships that not only align with our goals but also contribute to the growth of the tech-driven automotive workforce," she said. "We look forward to the lasting impact this partnership will have on our students and the regional economy."

The partnership between FVSU and Imola will ensure that students gain valuable industry experience, driving innovation and success in the electric vehicle field.

Kennedy McIntyre, a CDEP scholar, added, "As FVSU students, we're driven by our dreams. Imola Automotive is helping turn those dreams into reality by providing us with new opportunities."
