NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (September 13, 2025) - New Brunswick is set to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month, from Sept. 15 through Oct. 15, with a series of events celebrating the diverse history, culture, and contributions of the Hispanic and Latino communities.
The celebrations kick off this weekend with the FolkLIVE: Mexican Folkloric Festival on Saturday, Sept. 13, from 2-6 p.m. at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center, 11 Livingston Ave. Reservations are needed. On Monday, Sept. 15, a Mexican Flag Raising Ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. at the Middlesex County Administration Building, 75 Bayard St.
Other highlights include a live airbrush artist on the George Street Pedestrian Plaza, 387 George St, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., on Friday, Sept.19, and a Third Space Open Mic on Thursday, Sept. 25 from 7:45 to 10 p.m on the George Street Plaza. The Zimmerli Art Museum will host Último Domingo on Sunday, Sept. 28 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the museum, 71 Hamilton St., with interactive experiences.
Families can also join the New Brunswick Free Public Library, 60 Livingston Ave., on Thursday, Sept. 25, from 4 to 5 p.m. for Hispanic Heritage Game Day, where children in grades K-6 and their families can play Jeopardy and Lotería. Free registration can be found here.
