Pasadena Public Works Department Invites Residents to Attend the Second Pop-Up Event for the Jefferson Park Stormwater Capture Project Feasibility Study and Community Outreach[...]

PASADENA, Calif - The City of Pasadena Public Works Department will be hosting a second public outreach event for the Jefferson Park Stormwater Capture Project Feasibility Study. The City invites the community to join the project team at a hands-on community visioning pop-up event held at Jefferson Park, 1501 E. Villa St, on Saturday, April 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The pop-up event will be held at the picnic tables on the corner of Monte Vista Street and Hamilton Avenue. Attendees will be invited to participate in several interactive visioning activities, ask questions, and sign up for future project updates.

In June 2025, the City secured a $191,180 Public Education and Community Engagement grant from Los Angeles County's Safe, Clean Water (SCWP) Program to support a comprehensive outreach and engagement plan that will accompany the Feasibility Study. The grant funding, awarded through the voter-approved SCWP Program, ensures that residents play a central role in shaping the project's vision and design.

The Feasibility Study will evaluate both underground stormwater capture infrastructure and potential above-ground park enhancements, focusing on strategies to improve stormwater runoff management and address water quality compliance while creating meaningful park improvements, such as new recreation areas and play structures, outdoor classrooms, and enhanced urban greening, among other potential improvements to be considered.

This second public outreach event for the project is one of many opportunities to participate in the planning process and provide early feedback to help shape the feasibility study. To ensure broad community participation, the City will be hosting a series of bi-lingual community events, such as pop-up activities at the park, interested parties' meetings, community surveys and partnerships with surrounding community partners.
