Representative Melanie Miller Helps Welcome HHS Secretary Kennedy to Medina County

COLUMBUS-State Representative Melanie Miller (R-Ashland) yesterday joined a meeting hosted by the Hope Recovery Community and the Medina County Mental Health and Recovery Board as they welcomed U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to Medina County.

During the visit, Secretary Kennedy heard stories from Ohioans in recovery, toured the facility, and learned about Hope Recovery as a unique model for addiction and recovery support. Key pillars of the Hope Recovery model include:

  • Peer-Based Support: Offers tailored support services for individuals in recovery, family members supporting loved ones, and incarcerated individuals.
  • Education and Outreach: Educates community members about substance use disorder.
  • Recovery Farm: Provides workforce training, addresses food insecurity, and offers recovery support through a local farm initiative.

"Hope Recovery does incredible work in our community to support Ohioans on their path to recovery," said Miller. "I appreciate Secretary Kennedy taking the time to visit Medina County, hear directly from individuals in recovery, and learn more about community-driven solutions that are changing lives across Ohio."

Medina County has come together to collaborate on various recovery initiatives, including the Recovery Farm, which is a one-of-a-kind partnership between the Medina County Park District, Cathy's House, and Hope Recovery Community, supported by the Medina County ADAMH Board. The "working" farm - located in the heart of Medina County - brings workforce development tracts to help those in recovery. Items produced by the farm will directly benefit the partnering non-profits and Feeding Medina County.

Rep. Miller is also a member of the Ohio House MAHA Caucus, which is focused on helping Ohioans live long, healthy and fulfilling lives, discussing ways to make high-quality foods more affordable and improving access to the healthcare system.
