Chinese Consul General in Davao Zhao Xiuzhen Attends the Chinese New Year Celebration of Davao City

On February 16 , 2026, Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen attended the Chinese New Year Celebration jointly hosted by Davao City Government and Davao Chinatown Development Council. Mayor Sebastian Duterte, city councilors, representatives from Davao City Chinatown Development Council, Filipino-Chinese communities, and Chinese schools attended the event.

In her speech, Consul General Zhao Xiuzhen stated that the Bucana Bridge serves as the venue for celebrating the Chinese New Year this year -- a gift we present to the people of Davao. It stands tall here, like a galloping steed with its head held high, symbolizing the steady yet dynamic strides of Davao City as it charges forward toward opportunities and hope. She wished the people of both countries with renewed vigor and unwavering determination to usher in an even brighter tomorrow.

Mayor Duterte wished the people of both countries a happy Spring Festival and a harmonious family.

At the event, students from multiple Chinese schools in Davao City performed spectacular dragon and lion dances. Sister cities such as Jinjiang、Nanning also sent video messages of congratulations.
