Spring has arrived at Georgia College & State University, and the seasonal blooms have made our campus even more beautiful. As you take advantage of warmer weather, outdoor events and time with friends, keep safety at the forefront. Awareness is not seasonal - it's a daily practice.
Below are this month's Safety & Awareness priorities:
1️⃣ Situational Awareness Never Goes on Break
Spring brings increased foot traffic, outdoor studying and campus gatherings.
DPS Reminder: Save Campus Police in your phone and use available safety escort services when needed.
2️⃣ Travel Smart During Spring Break
Whether traveling home or out of town, preparation matters.
Proactive planning reduces risk and prevents reactive decisions.
3️⃣ Secure Your Property
Warmer weather often leads to open windows and unsecured doors.
Most crimes of opportunity occur when access is easy. Small habits make a significant difference.
4️⃣ Hydration, Heat & Outdoor Safety
Spring in Milledgeville can transition quickly from comfortable to hot.
Physical wellness directly supports personal safety.
5️⃣ Celebrate Responsibly
Spring events, formals and social gatherings increase this time of year.
Community safety is a shared responsibility - look out for one another.
A message from Chief Hardin
"Spring is one of the best times of the year on our campus. Enjoy it. Be present. Take care of each other. And remember - awareness and preparation are the strongest safety tools you carry every day."
