Safe Today, Healthy Tomorrow: Dispose of Medical Waste the Right Way!

Keeping our homes-and our city-clean and safe starts with smart disposal of household medical waste and used sharps. Here's how you can do your part.

What NOT to toss loosely:

From bandages, gloves, cotton swabs, and tissues to colostomy bags, dialysis waste, and incontinence products, medical waste should never go straight into the trash without proper packaging.

What to do:

  • Bag it right! Put all medical waste in heavy-duty plastic trash bags, then double-bag them for extra safety.
  • Got Sharps? Place needles, syringes, lancets, insulin pens, and other sharps in a strong, plastic container (like a detergent bottle). When it's 3/4 full, seal the lid with duct tape, label it "Do Not Recycle," and toss it in the household trash.
  • Remember: Do NOT recycle medical waste or sharps containers! They belong in the regular trash once properly secured

Let's work together to keep League City clean, safe, and protected for everyone.
