Voters Shatter Record in St. Charles County Largest Number of Votes Ever Cast

They came, they saw, they voted.

A record number of people-228,700-cast their ballots in St. Charles County over the absentee voting period through Election Day.

That breaks the earlier record of 223,533 voters set in November 2020. Voter turnout in St. Charles County was 76%, slightly lower than 2020 due to increased voter registrations.

There are currently 301,218 registered voters in St. Charles County. Of those, 76,338 voted before Election Day, while 152,362 voted on Election Day.

The public is invited to see the hand count audit of randomly selected precincts and races supervised by Republican and Democratic participants of this election on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 9 a.m. at the Election Authority (397 Turner Blvd., St. Peters).

The purpose is to compare hand counted totals with the machine counted totals. Results are expected by the end of the day Thursday. Election Director Kurt Bahr will be available for interviews.

Bahr says the record-setting election had relatively few problems. All of the soggy ballots from the Tuesday rain ended up dry and counted, Bahr says. Many voters left behind umbrellas, eyeglasses, driver licenses and passports. Lost and found items can be retrieved at the Election Authority.
