On 4 December, the Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taurimas Valys, met with the Ambassador of Canada to Lithuania, Jeanette Sautner, and the Canadian Trade Commissioner for Lithuania, Nicolas Lepage.

The meeting focused on key issues of bilateral cooperation between Lithuania and Canada, mutual strategic interests and opportunities to further strengthen trade relations were explored.

The Vice-Minister welcomed the steadily increasing cooperation between Lithuania and Canada, especially in the areas of cyber security and e-government, and stressed the need to further make use of the strengths of both countries in these priority areas.

"In a rapidly changing geopolitical context, partnership with like-minded countries that share the same values is crucial," said Valys.

Ambassador Sautner presented the opportunity to cooperate with the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC). The primary mandate of a Canadian Crown corporation established in 1946 is to boost Canadian exports of goods and services by acting as an international contracting agency, helping Canadian firms win foreign government contracts.

The Vice-Minister emphasized that the partnership between Lithuania and Canada has great potential, and the experience of Canadian institutions and businesses can contribute to the consistent growth of economic cooperation between Lithuania and Canada, especially in high-value-added sectors.
