The delegation led by the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan, which is in Kyrgyzstan on an official visit, met with the Speaker of the Parliament of the Kyrgyz Republic (Jogorku Kenesh), Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu. The Heads of the parliaments of the two countries first had a private meeting, which was followed by an expanded meeting of the delegations.
Alen Simonyan thanked Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu for the warm welcome, noting that he was happy to be in a friendly country. The focus of the discussions of the interlocutors was on the development of inter-parliamentary relations, as well as a wide range of issues of mutual interest.
Separate attention was also paid to the process of establishing peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan. In this context, Nurlanbek Turgunbek Uulu noted that Kyrgyzstan welcomes the declaration adopted in Washington and the initialed peace agreement, adding that they will have a great impact in terms of establishing lasting peace in the region. Alen Simonyan also drew his colleague's attention to the issue of prisoners of war and illegally detained persons in Azerbaijan, highlighting the issue of missing persons.
Alen Simonyan also toured the Kyrgyz Parliament building with Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu and got acquainted with the various innovative solutions implemented there.
