On August 20, 2026, just before 3:30 p.m., a 67-year-old woman contacted police to report an assault that had occurred to her earlier in the month.
Officers determined through investigation that the woman was sitting on a bench waiting at a bus stop at Portage Avenue and Craig Street when a man approached and laid down on the bench beside her. The woman turned away and was minding her own business, when the man physically assaulted her by kicking and punching her. The victim attempted to flee by getting on a Transit bus. The suspect followed but was kicked off the bus for causing trouble a short time later.
The victim sustained injuries to her upper body that did not require medical attention.
The Major Crimes Unit assumed the investigation and identified a suspect.
On September 7, 2026, just before 4:00 p.m., investigators attended to a residence in the 200 block of Margaret Street and arrested the suspect without incident.
Davis MILES, (18), has been charged with Assault and was detained in custody.
