Creativity, Kindness, and STEM in Action

Exciting things are happening on Rancho Cordova campuses!

With support from the city's Community Enhancement & Investment Fund, more than 2,400 elementary school students are participating in a new initiative, Waves of Kindness. The initiative was inspired by the book, "The Magic of Making a Difference: One CAN Make a Difference." Students are designing colorful flag banners using drawings, poetry, stickers, and handwritten messages of encouragement.

Participating campuses include Rancho Cordova Elementary, Cordova Villa Elementary, Williamson Elementary, Riverview STEM Academy, Mather Heights Elementary, White Rock Elementary, and Navigator Elementary.

In addition to this new initiative, students from Mills Middle School, W.E. Mitchell Middle School, Rancho Cordova Elementary, Peter J. Shields Elementary, Cordova Meadows Elementary, and Williamson Elementary explored the exciting world of science, technology, engineering, and math this week with hands-on guidance from Intel engineers.

At each school, students heard from Intel engineers about careers in STEM and explored topics such as how artificial intelligence is used at Intel. They also built and experimented with circuit boards, asking questions and discovering how electricity and technology come together in everyday life. These activities were designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving, giving students a glimpse of what a future in STEM could hold.

Together, these programs are giving Rancho Cordova youth practical exposure to creativity, collaboration, and real-world STEM applications.
