Cassidy Votes to Confirm President Trump’s Judicial Nominee for the Eastern District of Louisiana

WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA) today supported President Donald Trump's judicial nominee, Anna St. John, to the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana. St. John was confirmed in the United States Senate by a vote of 51-45.

"Anna stood up for Americans in court," said Dr. Cassidy. "Because of this, we can trust her to put the Constitution and Louisianans first."

"I know the Eastern District of Louisiana is in good hands with Anna St. John on the federal bench. She knows our Constitution like the back of her hand and has the smarts and experience to be a great, fair judge. I was pleased to see my Senate colleagues agree with me today and am grateful for President Trump's confidence in her," said Senator Kennedy.

Ms. St. John began her legal career clerking for the Honorable Rhesa H. Barksdale of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and spent several years as an attorney in the Washington, D.C. office of Covington & Burling LLP. She is a graduate of Columbia Law School, where she was named a James Kent Scholar; received a Master of Arts from the Columbia Graduate School of Arts and Sciences; and received a Bachelor of Arts from Louisiana State University. Prior to her nomination, Anna St. John served as president and general counsel of Hamilton Lincoln Law Institute.
