The Republic of Croatia welcomes the decision of the Royal Government of Bhutan to formally recognize the Republic of Croatia as an important step towards further strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation between the two countries, in accordance with their mutual interests and established procedures.
In line with the principles of international law and the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations, Bhutan's recognition is the result of diplomatic efforts undertaken by the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Croatia to the United Nations, and the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia in New Delhi, aimed at formalizing relations between the two states.
Croatia and Bhutan have cooperated to date within the framework of the United Nations and other multilateral forums. This act further strengthens the foundations for the continued development of friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries, based on mutual respect, sovereign equality, and a shared commitment to promoting peace, stability and sustainable development.
As a member of the European Union and NATO, the Republic of Croatia remains committed to advancing sustainable development, international cooperation, peace and stability, including through strengthening its relations with partners across Asia.
