Katie Eickholt
Senior Civil Engineer

The City of Sioux City Engineering Division announces that work has resumed on the South Cornelia Street (Lincoln Way to Wellington Avenue) Emergency Repairs Project. The contractor began construction today and all work is anticipated to be completed by May 2026.

Construction originally began in mid-October 2025 following a watermain break that caused the street to collapse. The street was temporarily reopened to traffic in early January.

Remaining work includes sidewalk replacement, grading, and seeding. While this work is underway, South Cornelia Street will be closed to through traffic from Lincoln Way to just north of Wellington Avenue. Residents within the closure will continue to have access from Wellington Avenue.
