Starting Tuesday, April 7, the Commodore Barry Bridge will have only one westbound lane into Pennsylvania open to traffic until approximately 5:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 8.
The lane restriction was required to allow for a priority repair to the roadway surface on the approach span. The repair has been completed using concrete, which requires time to fully cure before the lane can safely reopen.
Motorists should note that construction activity will not be visible, as the work was completed earlier today and the closure is strictly to allow the concrete to cure before reopening to traffic. The work took place in Chester, PA, at the overpass above Route 13 on the approach span (not on the main river span).
The Commodore Barry Bridge carries just five lanes of traffic, making this type of work particularly challenging, as it often requires reducing traffic to one or two lanes in a single direction to safely complete maintenance and repairs.
Motorists are advised to allow extra travel time and check current traffic conditions before traveling.
We appreciate your patience as this necessary repair is completed.
