RTM unveils VR360 technology for Malaysia’s National Day 2025 celebrations

Radio Televisyen Malaysia is making broadcasting history by introducing Virtual Reality 360° (VR360) technology for the first time during Malaysia's 2025 National Day celebrations. This groundbreaking format promises viewers a comprehensive visual experience with enhanced impact compared to traditional broadcasting methods, allowing audiences to feel as though they're positioned at the front of the vibrant parade at Dataran Putrajaya. Unlike conventional television coverage or social media streams that restrict viewers to predetermined camera angles, VR360 provides complete 360-degree coverage, enabling users to look in all directions with simple controls using their mobile phones, computer, or VR headsets.

The innovative technology offers viewers an immersive, interactive experience that RTM describes as "closer, more realistic, and more liberating" than traditional viewing methods. Users can access the VR360 coverage through RTM's official website at rtmklik.rtm.gov.my/merdeka360 or via QR code, with multiple viewing options available depending on their device preferences. Whether using smartphones and tablets with movement controls, computers with click-and-drag functionality, or VR headsets for the ultimate immersive experience, viewers can navigate the celebration from every conceivable angle.

Alongside this technological innovation, RTM continues to provide comprehensive coverage through traditional channels, including RTMKlik, official social media platforms, Facebook Live and YouTube Live), and standard television and radio broadcasts. As Malaysia's official National Day broadcaster, RTM positions this VR360 offering as an exclusive opportunity for citizens to "experience this historic national moment in a new, closer, and more interactive way," marking a significant advancement in Malaysian broadcasting whilst preserving the nation's most treasured traditions
