FM Araghchis statement following visit to Great Mosque of Algiers:

.

"At the conclusion of my visit to Algeria, I had the honor of visiting the Great Mosque of Algiers - a mosque that stands as a symbol of the Algerian people's resistance, struggle, and jihad against colonialism, and equally as a testament to their enduring commitment to religious convictions, Islamic values, and Islamic identity.

This mosque, which has been founded in the name of the Great Prophet of Islam, can indeed be regarded as an emblem of unity for the Islamic Ummah.

The relationship between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria is deep, solid, and deeply rooted. The two nations share aligned and common positions on fundamental issues of the Islamic world, particularly the Palestinian cause. There have long been historical ties between our peoples, and constructive and important cooperation has existed between our two governments, which, God willing, will continue into the future.

Algeria is a major and influential country in the Islamic world. At this juncture, with its current membership in the United Nations Security Council, it is playing a pivotal and prominent role and is recognized as a worthy representative of Muslims and Islamic countries within this international institution.

We wish the government and people of Algeria continued success in their efforts to safeguard the interests of Muslims and defend the aspirations of the Islamic world. I am very pleased to have undertaken this visit and hope that relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Algeria will always advance on a path of development, deepening, and flourishing
