NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (March 22, 2026) - Victor Fair, who began his career 41 years ago as a laborer on the back of a sanitation truck, has been named the new Director of Public Works.
Over four decades, Fair climbed the ranks from driver to supervisor and assistant supervisor, developing an encyclopedic knowledge of the City's infrastructure and a deep connection to the community he serves.
In his new role, Fair oversees a department of approximately 60 employees responsible for essential services, including snow removal, waste collection, and the maintenance of City parks and sewer lines.
Despite a demanding executive schedule, Fair remains a "hands-on" leader, frequently found in the field inspecting repair projects in neighborhoods like Dewey Heights and mentoring the next generation of City workers to ensure the department's high standards are met.
A graduate of New Brunswick High School, Fair has balanced his long career at the DPW with extensive community involvement, including coaching Little League and serving as a municipal court officer.
As he settles into the director's office on Jersey Avenue, his focus remains on the core mission that has defined his career: staying responsive to residents and ensuring City services operate at 100% capacity.
