Land Use Permit Renewal for Step and Run Boardwalk off Stampede Road -LAS 31606

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Battelle Memorial Institute

PROJECT NAME: LAS 31606

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The proposed boardwalks are located on the south side of Stampede Road approximately 5.7 miles west of the Parks Hwy near Eight Mile Lake, northwest of Healy.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION:

Fairbanks Meridian, Township 12 South, Range 9 West, Section 13.
Fairbanks Meridian, Township 12 South, Range 8 West, Section 18.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Battelle Memorial Institute has applied to renew a land use permit for the use of existing wooden step and run boardwalk on state land. The purpose of the boardwalk is to reduce impacts to the vegetation and soil stability from pedestrian foot traffic accessing existing scientific sampling plots.

REQUESTED TERM: 5 Years

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: July 22, 2025

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a decision is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
