Since 2011, Tina Coco has helped Baruch students turn law school ambitions into highly competitive acceptances.
For nearly 15 years, Tina Coco has helped thousands of Baruch students apply to law school, including top-ranked institutions such as Columbia, Harvard, University of Michigan, and New York University. Now, Tina's impact is earning national recognition: Juris Education named her among the "50 Best Pre-Law Advisors in the USA (2026)."
"Tina brings a distinctive blend of legal practice, law school career services, and undergraduate pre-law advising experience that gives her insight into every stage of the pipeline, from undergraduate exploration to law school career outcomes," wrote Juris Education of Tina, pre-law advisor and manager of the Max Berger Pre-Law Program at Baruch.
Prominent attorney and alumnus Max Berger, founder of the program, applauded the recognition.
"This is such spectacular news. The pre-law program under Tina's leadership, in combination with our outstanding students, are the gifts that keep on giving," said Berger who was the first in his family to earn a college degree and is a long-standing trustee of the Baruch College Fund.
For Tina, the honor is ultimately about the students she serves.
"This distinction is especially meaningful because it reflects the achievements, perseverance, and aspirations of the students I have had the privilege to support throughout their law school journeys," said Tina.
"Helping students discover their potential, navigate the admissions process, and pursue legal careers is incredibly rewarding. This recognition reaffirms my commitment to expanding access to legal education and empowering the next generation of legal professionals."
From legal practice to law school career services, Tina has built a profession focused on helping aspiring lawyers succeed. A cum laude graduate of St. John's University and St. John's School of Law, she serves as an attorney with the New York City Bar and previously with CT Corporation System, and as assistant director of the Career Development Office at Pace University School of Law.
She holds a certificate in Adult Career Planning and Development from New York University and is among the leadership officers at the Northeast Association of Pre-Law Advisors, the largest and oldest of the six regional originations. Tina travels throughout the country training advisors on building successful pre-law programs.
The honor from Juris Education adds to Tina's national recognition. In 2023, she received the Excellence in Pre-Law Advising Award from the Association of American Law Schools' Section on Pre-Law and Admission to Law School-one of the profession's highest honors.
An intensive law school preparatory program, the Max Berger Pre-Law Fellows Program at Baruch assists undergraduates and alumni in gaining admission to the nation's leading law schools.
With ongoing support from Berger, the program provides a range of services and support from a "starter pack" to help offset law school application fees; to stipends for those who complete an unpaid/low paid legal internship with a public sector legal employer; to reimbursement for a LSAT prep course.
Since 2021, Baruch has produced the second-highest number of law school applicants among The City University of New York colleges and consistently ranks in the American Bar Association's Top 240 Feeder Institutions.
