City of Boulder’s Open Call for Artists to Display Work in 2026 Recreation Center Art Exhibition

The City of Boulder is seeking artists interested in showcasing their artwork on the walls of the city's recreation centers. This exhibition program highlights the creativity of local artists while bringing vibrant, inspiring art into public community hubs.

Artists of all mediums-painting, photography, mixed media and more-are encouraged to apply. Selected artists will have the opportunity to display and sell their work at one of Boulder's three recreation centers: North Boulder Recreation Center, East Boulder Community Center or South Boulder Recreation Center. Exhibitions will remain on display for at least one month, allowing hundreds of community members and visitors to enjoy the art as part of their recreation experience.

"This program celebrates Boulder's creative spirit by connecting local artists with the community in everyday spaces," said Parks and Recreation Director Ali Rhodes. "Our recreation centers are gathering places for the whole community, and art enhances them by sparking imagination, conversation and joy."

Applications are now open and will be accepted through Wednesday, October 8. The selection committee reviews applications based on creativity, feasibility and connection to the community. Selected applicants will be notified by Friday, Oct. 31.

Interested artists can submit their application on the Boulder Parks and Recreation webpage. Please be sure to review the Recreation Centers Exhibition Agreementbefore applying.
