New 97129 ZIP Code in Hillsboro

The United States Postal Service (USPS) recently announced that more than 10,000 addresses in Hillsboro will have a new Zone Improvement Plan (ZIP) Code starting July 1, 2026.

When originally planning for community growth in South Hillsboro, the City of Hillsboro, Washington County, and Senator Jeff Merkely advocated for a new ZIP Code as early as 2014 to cover those areas before development was set to take place. USPS denied that request in 2016.

Advocacy continued and City staff submitted a second request for a new ZIP Code in 2024 for areas in development in South Hillsboro and Witch Hazel Village South. In February 2026, USPS confirmed a new ZIP Code was approved for Hillsboro but limited details were provided other than an approximate boundary of the impacted addresses. In May, USPS revealed the new boundary and began notifying impacted addresses.

While the City's advocacy was for the issuance of a new ZIP Code for the growth areas (South Hillsboro and Witch Hazel Village South), USPS has stated that the new ZIP Code boundaries were expanded to meet operational needs and to balance delivery operations for USPS.
