There are several regional events honoring Juneteenth- the national holiday of freedom celebrating the resilience, hope, and determination of people of African descent. In recognition of the City's continued commitment to wellness and belonging, we encourage the community to reflect and celebrate Juneteenth, which could take on many forms including joining your neighbors and friends at Palo Alto and Bay Area events offering music, dancing, and more, or learning through Palo Alto Library curated book lists.
Regional Events
- Bring the kids to a special storytime and craft on Friday, June 19 at 3 p.m. at Mitchell Park Library
- Enjoy a weekend of Juneteenth festivities in East Palo Alto from Friday, June 19 through June 21
- Join the San Mateo County Supervisor for the Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony in Redwood City on Wednesday, June 17 - 10 a.m.
- Enjoy live music and performances at the Juneteenth Celebration in Menlo Park Friday, June 19 from 5 to 8 p.m.
- Join the 7th Annual Los Altos Juneteenth Festival on Saturday June 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
