Ball State University's Department of Theatre and Dance will present William Shakespeare's timeless tragedy Romeo and Juliet, Sept. 26-28, 2025, at 7:30 p.m. each evening at the Brown Family Amphitheater. Performances are free and open to the public.
Directed by Matthew Reeder, associate professor of directing and Shakespeare at Ball State, this fresh interpretation of the story of star-crossed lovers delivers a powerful, urgent experience for modern audiences. The production explores themes of love, fate, and the consequences of family conflict, while inviting viewers to connect with the romance and intensity of the young characters' lives.
"This production of Romeo and Juliet embraces the beauty of Shakespeare's language while bringing new energy to the story," Mr. Reeder said. "We want audiences to experience the romance and the urgency of these young characters' lives in a way that feels immediate and powerful."
The Brown Family Amphitheater is located between Park and Pruis Halls and Noyer and Woodworth Complexes. Visitors can park for free at the New York Avenue parking garage after 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and on weekends.
