The Campus Community Players of the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point at Marshfield will be presenting the drama "The Amish Project" (ensemble version) written by Jessica Dickey this April.
Performances will be held in the Helen Connor Laird Theatre on the UWSP at Marshfield campus, 2000 W. 5th St., Marshfield, Thursday through Saturday April 23-25 at 7:30 p.m. with a matinee on Sunday, April 26 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased online at tickets.uwsp.edu or at the door one hour before each performance. Seating will be general admission.
"The Amish Project" is described as a fictional exploration of a real event involving a schoolhouse shooting that took place in an Amish community called Nickel Mines, PA in 2006 and the path of forgiveness and compassion forged in its wake.
The characters include two of the victims (played by Adeline Lockhart and Isla Hall), their parents (Chris Michalski and Rachel Fuehrer), the gunman and his widow (Tony Opelt and Charlotte Johnson), a local professor (Ed Krall) and other residents of the community, both Amish and English. The play contains some adult content and language.
