After 15 months of intensive analysis, community stakeholder conversations and detailed evaluation, the County has posted the completed Community Development Code (CDC) Assessment Priorities Report.
The CDC Assessment project examined how the CDC currently functions, where it can be improved, and how to undertake meaningful updates in the years ahead.
"It's been a complex project," said Suzanne Savin, Senior Planner and project manager. "We are grateful to everyone who took part in the review process, especially our volunteer Technical Advisory Committee members."
In April, the County hosted both in-person and online open houses to gather community input. Participants emphasized the need for a more streamlined, easier-to-use CDC.
The CDC Assessment Priorities Report identifies which CDC changes are most needed, how extensive those revisions are expected to be, and the issues those updates would address.
"The CDC Assessment Priorities Report represents a set of recommendations, -so the work to update the CDC is truly just beginning," Savin noted. "This report helps us to prioritize which CDC amendments to address first. Every revision, whether large or small, will go through the County's ordinance process, which includes public hearings with the Planning Commission and Board of Commissioners where community members can submit written or oral testimony. This means community members continue to have opportunities to comment as specific recommendations are developed and proposed."
Community members interested in following the continuing process are encouraged to visit the project webpage and sign up to receive Ordinance Notices as Code revisions are scheduled for public hearings.
