COLUMBUS - State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel (R-New Waterford) is pleased to announce that numerous local school districts in Columbiana and Carroll were recently awarded funding from the Ohio School Bus Safety Grant Program-totaling more than $369,000.
As part of the state operating budget, the Legislature provided $10 million toward helping school districts offset the costs of upgrading their bus fleets with advanced safety equipment. Flexible guidelines allowed each school district to best utilize the funds to promote safety in their fleet.
"As a member of the House Transportation Committee, I understand how critical safe and reliable transportation is for our students," said Rep. Blasdel. "These grants allow our local districts to invest directly in modern safety technology that protects children, supports bus drivers, and gives parents peace of mind every time a student steps onto a school bus."
The list of awardees in the 79th House District includes:
Columbiana County
Carroll County
Every school district that applied for assistance with eligible equipment received an award. Schools may use the funds to incorporate safety enhancements in new buses or add safety technology to buses currently in service.
