Cozen O’Connor signs new downtown Minneapolis lease, expanding its footprint and signaling long-term commitment and growth

MINNEAPOLIS, May 4, 2026 - Cozen O'Connor, a leading international law firm, today announced the execution of a new lease in downtown Minneapolis. The Minneapolis office, which includes over 80 lawyers, will occupy two full floors of the Wells Fargo Center beginning May 1, 2027.

The new space provides the opportunity for further expansion as the firm plans for long-term growth, serving both local and international clients, and solidifies its commitment to downtown. Cozen O'Connor has already started space planning and design, with construction expected to begin later this summer.

"Our committee looked at this decision through a long-term lens," said Christopher Bellini, chair of Cozen O'Connor's Minneapolis facilities search committee, chair of the firm's Private Equity Practice and co-chair of the Capital Markets & Securities Practice. "This move reinforces our commitment to downtown Minneapolis and gives the firm a platform to support continued growth, collaboration and investment in the community for many years to come."

"People want to work in downtown Minneapolis, and people want to work at Cozen O'Connor," said Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey. "By signing this new lease, Cozen O'Connor is intentionally building a strong foundation to attract not only clients, but also talented attorneys. Minneapolis is a central hub for business and law - and Cozen O'Connor is setting up to be a go-to cornerstone downtown for generations to come."

"We have been bolstering our Midwest market and a critical component of reaching those goals is the expansion of the Minneapolis office," said Michael J. Heller, Cozen O'Connor Chairman and CEO. "By locating our practice in downtown Minneapolis, we can position the firm to best serve clients - especially since the Twin Cities is home to the highest concentration of Fortune 500 companies per capita among large U.S. metropolitan areas. We look forward to the years to come at the Wells Fargo Center and are eager to continue our growth trajectory."

"When it comes to who you want committing to the future of downtown, businesses like Cozen O'Connor are a no-brainer," said Adam Duininck, president and CEO of the mpls downtown council. "To have a leading international law firm say "yes" to long-term growth in downtown is really a testament to the upward momentum we are experiencing right now. We are all working together to strengthen downtown's identity as a place where people want to come to work, and I am so grateful that Cozen O'Connor has signed on for the long haul."

Mike Logan, president and CEO of the Minneapolis Regional Chamber added, "Cozen O'Connor is choosing to deepen their roots in downtown Minneapolis, and we couldn't be more excited. The team at Cozen O'Connor brings a client-centered, cutting-edge approach which seamlessly uplifts the vitality of downtown and our entire region. We are honored to have the firm continue their award-winning practice downtown and look forward to ribbon-cutting day."

Ranked among the top 100 law firms in the country, Cozen O'Connor is widely recognized for its award-winning practices in real estate, business law, litigation and government relations, earning accolades from leading organizations.

Cozen O'Connor's Minneapolis office is the fourth-largest office of its 35 locations, making it the firm's biggest office outside of Philadelphia, New York City and Washington, D.C. The firm began a search for a new space earlier this year that would be large enough to accommodate the current and growing team.
