Wolters Kluwer and Vanderbilt’s Heard Libraries collaborate on transformative medical research agreement

The read-and-publish agreement provides increased access to Vanderbilt research through Lippincott's open access and hybrid journals

Wolters Kluwer Health and Vanderbilt University's Jean and Alexander Heard Libraries have announced a new collaboration that will help support medical breakthroughs and improve access to scholarly research. The agreement, which is an expansion of Wolters Kluwer's read-and-publish offerings in North America, will run through 2028.

"Leading research institutions are navigating a complex transition to open access while ensuring their scholars publish in trusted, high-quality medical journals," said Rafael Sidi, senior vice president and general manager of health research for Wolters Kluwer Health. "By supporting this evolving publishing ecosystem, we support health care professionals, medical researchers and the broader medical community seeking to influence policy, inform patient care and drive innovation for a healthier future."

This collaboration gives Vanderbilt researchers seamless access to trusted, high-impact medical journals within the Lippincott portfolio while simplifying the path to open access publishing. Wolters Kluwer is committed to building a sustainable model that adapts to Vanderbilt's evolving needs and supports both researchers and library priorities while amplifying the global reach of their work.

"The Heard Libraries are proud to announce this transformative agreement with Wolters Kluwer," Vanderbilt University Librarian Jon Shaw said. "By expanding access to Vanderbilt research across an array of prominent journals, the agreement accelerates and elevates the university's scholarly output, enabling authors to share their discoveries more swiftly-and collaborate more effectively-with fellow scholars and practitioners around the world."

The Lippincott portfolio of medical and scientific journal publications boasts a collection of nearly 400 indexed titles and provides unparalleled visibility and credibility for health care researchers and practitioners worldwide.
