United States Attorney Darin D. Smith Announces District Election Officer for 2026 General Election in Wyoming

CHEYENNE, WY - United States Attorney Darin Smith announced today that Assistant United States Attorney (AUSA) Jesse Naiman will lead the office's efforts in coordination with the Justice Department's nationwide election monitoring program for the upcoming November 3, 2026, general election.

"Ensuring election integrity, supporting free and fair elections, and protecting the right to vote for U.S. citizens across Wyoming is a key priority of our office," said U.S. Attorney Darin Smith.

As the newly appointed District Election Officer (DEO) for the District of Wyoming, AUSA Naiman will oversee Election Day complaints. Working in consultation with Justice Department Headquarters in Washington, D.C., his responsibilities include addressing voting rights concerns, election fraud allegations, and threats of violence directed at election officials or staff.

The Department of Justice has deployed election monitors since the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. This long-standing initiative serves to deter and combat poll intimidation, discrimination, fraudulent voting practices, and threats targeting poll workers and election personnel.
