KT&G (CEO Bang Kyung-man) donated ₩100M to support Gangneung, a region in Gangwon-do suffering from a severe drought.
The donation will help mitigate the damage to farms and the livelihoods of residents in the area, who struggle to maintain their daily necessities due to the drought. Delivered through the Korean Red Cross, the ₩100M donation will be used to provide more than 200,000 units of bottled water and support other disaster recovery efforts.
The donation comes from the SangSang Fund, a voluntary donation program created by KT&G employees. Established in 2011, the SangSang Fund is KT&G's social contribution initiative, where employees voluntarily donate a portion of their monthly salary, and the company matches their contributions through a matching grant program.
KT&G Director for ESG Management Shim Yeong-ah stated, "We sincerely hope for the swift recovery of the drought-affected areas and for residents to return to their daily lives as soon as possible. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and do our best to provide support in tangible ways."
