Rhode Island Energy and employees donate over $232,000 to nonprofit organizations, including $116,000 company match to the United Way of Rhode Island

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (October 14, 2025) - Through its "Power of One" campaign, Rhode Island Energy (RIE) employees and parent company, PPL, will donate more than $232,000 to various nonprofit organizations across the Ocean State. This includes employee donations of $116,000 to the United Way of Rhode Island , with $10,000 directed specifically to "Operation Help" and a matching donation from PPL. The donations are part of the company's commitment to help those who need it most this winter.

"At Rhode Island Energy, we're driven by a shared commitment to uplift our communities, especially when they need us most," said Greg Cornett, President of RIE. "Through the Power of One campaign, our employees and parent company, PPL, have come together to contribute more than $232,000 to support nonprofit organizations and Rhode Islanders this winter. Whether it's through our partnership with United Way of Rhode Island, the launch of our new Operation Help fund, or the hundreds of volunteer hours our team has given, this effort reflects the heart of who we are, neighbors helping neighbors."

Building upon the company-wide Day of Caring , where RIE employees donated over 280 volunteer hours to local organizations, RIE employees have doubled down on their commitment to their friends and neighbors across the state, funding over $116,000 in donations to various nonprofit organizations. In addition to the funds raised by RIE employees, RIE's parent company, PPL, will match the over $116,000 and donate that amount to the United Way of Rhode Island.

Of the over $116,000 donated by RIE employees, $10,000 will be allocated to the company's new, employee-funded assistance program designed to help support its most vulnerable customers this winter. This fund, named "Operation Help", will be available to provide winter bill assistance to Rhode Islanders who need it most later this year. RIE will also continue its support for the Good Neighbor Energy Fund, which also provides heating assistance across the Ocean State.
