The Foreign Ministry held a virtual seminar on exporting Mexican agrifood products, wines, and spirits to Canada, coordinated by the Directorate General for Economic Diplomacy in close collaboration with the Mexican Embassy in Canada, the Mexican consulates general in Montreal and Toronto, and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Mexico.
The seminar, held March 23-25, brought together more than 2,000 registered participants from all 32 Mexican states, creating a national platform with representation from the business and academic sectors, civil society, and all three levels of government.
Notably, 90% of participants belong to micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), reflecting the foreign ministry's commitment to expanding access to export resources. Women made up 53% of attendees.
The opening ceremony included Farid Hannan, Director General for Economic Diplomacy; Carlos Manuel Joaquín González, Mexico's Ambassador to Canada; the consuls general in Montreal and Toronto, Ambassador Víctor Manuel Treviño and Ambassador Iván Sierra, respectively; Santiago Ruy, Coordinator of International Affairs at the Agriculture Ministry; Daniel Vargas, UNDP Deputy Resident Representative in Mexico; and Carla Bustillos, Director General of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.
The seminar provided technical guidance and recommendations to help Mexican companies enter the Canadian market, particularly in Ontario and Quebec - key strategic entry points into the country.
