MARSOC Celebrates 20 Years of History

Marine Forces Special Operations Command celebrates 20 years of history on February 24, 2026. In response to the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, the Marine Corps activated Detachment One as a contribution to the U.S. Special Operations Command on June 19, 2003. The successful integration and operations of Detachment One directly led to the activation of MARSOC. (U.S. Marine Corps video by Sgt. Victoria Hutt)
