ETS fall service changes start August 30

August 17, 2026

With the new school year around the corner, Edmonton Transit Service (ETS) is pleased to welcome students back to transit this fall. Starting August 30, several bus routes, including school special routes, will see service adjustments to reflect typical fall ridership patterns.

School special routes

Several northside school special routes will change this fall following the opening of St. Carlo Acutis Catholic High School and due to ongoing construction on 132 Avenue near Archbishop O'Leary Catholic High School. The changes provide more direct service to schools along 132 Avenue from growing neighbourhoods in north Edmonton.

Two new school specials will be added:
  • Route 615: St. Carlo Acutis Catholic High School
  • Route 623: Archbishop O'Leary Catholic High School
The following school specials will see major route changes: 610, 612, 613 and 626.

The following school specials will see
minor route changes to improve service coverage:633, 634, 636, 647, 664 and 683.

School special routes
624, 632, 637, 643, 644, 645 and 676 will be cancelled or combined with other routes due to low or changing ridership patterns.

A new school special
Route 632 will also run between Capilano Transit Centre and Vimy Ridge Academy, following a similar path to the former Route 522.

Construction and detours
Several summer construction projects will continue into the fall and are expected to be completed by October 2026. For more information, visit the ETS
detours page or edmonton.ca/TransitServiceChanges.

On Demand Transit
The temporary On Demand Transit zone in the Thorncliff neighbourhood will remain in place due to the closure of 175 Street and 87 Avenue.

On Demand Transit stops at 17 Street and 19 Avenue will be replaced by conventional Route 516 service. The route will be adjusted to travel along 19 Avenue in response to high On Demand Transit ridership in the growing Aster neighbourhood.

Holidays and special event service changes
Transit service is reduced on holidays and to align with public, Catholic and post-secondary school calendars. More information is available on the
Transit Service Changes webpage.

Other service changes
  • Routes 7, 8, 9 and 114: Additional travel time will be added on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays.
  • Route 2 Owl: 84 Street at Stadium Transit Centre will change to southbound-only traffic. Route 2 Owl travelling in both directions will use Stadium Transit Centre Bay F (#1407) and will no longer use Bay G (#1408).
  • Route 150X: Service will extend farther north into the Rapperswill and Canossa neighbourhoods, improving access to Downtown and the new St. Carlo Acutis Catholic High School. The route will be detoured during construction in the Dunluce neighbourhood until Fall 2026.
  • Route 516: The route will use 17 Street and 19 Avenue, bringing conventional transit service closer to the Aster neighbourhood. On Demand Transit stops at 17 Street and 19 Avenue will be replaced by Route 516 service.
Riders are encouraged to plan their trips in advance using the trip planner on edmonton.ca/Transit or Google Maps and selecting a date after August 31.
