The City of Verona is excited to announce the January 5, 2026 opening of the new Verona Community Center, located at 130 N. Franklin Street in the former Verona Public Library building. The facility will offer room rentals, recreation programming space, and serve as the home of the Park and Recreation Departments.
The Verona Community Center will feature a number of spaces available to the public, to include two large rooms for public rental and community events, a dedicated space for the new Verona Rec Afterschool program, a quiet activity room for board games and arts and crafts, and a gaming room. For city operations, the building also includes storage space for recreation equipment, and office space for Park and Recreation staff.
"As Verona grows, it's critical that we continue to build and support community spaces. The Verona Community Center fills the need for community spaces by offering programming and discounted room rentals for Verona residents," said Verona Mayor Luke Diaz.
In addition to offering flexible rental and programming spaces, the Recreation Department is launching Verona Rec Afterschool, a new program for students in grades K-5. The program will include a variety of activities throughout the school year such as arts and crafts, outdoor play, reading, and free play. Registration is now open. Visit the Verona Rec website for more information and online registration.
"The new community center will be a great space for Verona. It will provide a wide variety of opportunities for both community use and recreational programming. We are also launching a new afterschool program for kids as well," said Recreation Director Casey Dudley.
"The Verona Community Center is more than just a building - it will be a gathering place that reflects Verona's commitment to community, wellness, and belonging. It represents an exciting new chapter for our city and will be a place where residents of all ages can connect, learn, and be active together," said City Administrator Jamie Aulik. "Overall, this project reflects the City's ongoing investment in spaces that bring our community closer together."
Park and Recreation staff officially moved into the building on November 11, 2025, and are currently preparing the space for its scheduled opening on January 5, 2026. Preparations include painting, carpet cleaning, and general building maintenance.
The City extends its gratitude to those who have already donated board games, TVs, gaming systems, books, and arts and crafts supplies. Donations of gently used items are still being accepted. If you have items to contribute, please contact the Recreation Department at [email protected] or 608-497-2913.
