WASHINGTON-Co-chairs of the Kids Online Safety Caucus Congresswoman Erin Houchin (R-IN-09) and Congressman Jake Auchincloss (D-MA-04) released the following statement on the Meta settlement.
"These basic actions to improve features on Meta's platforms are long overdue, and this settlement meaningfully holds Meta accountable for its exploitation of millions of children across the country.
One company and one settlement is not enough. This settlement is not a substitute for bold and sweeping congressional action. What has been a race to the bottom, in terms of attention-fracking our youth, must become a race to the top, in terms of safety for young users. We are more committed than ever to passing legislation that ensures that adults, not algorithms, raise our children."
