In light of recent wildfires and earthquakes in the region, the City is reminding residents to sign up for AlertOC.
AlertOC is a mass notification system designed to keep Orange County residents and businesses informed of emergencies. By registering with AlertOC, time-sensitive voice messages from the county or city in which you live or work can be sent to your home, cell or business phone. Text messages can also be sent to cell phones, email accounts and hearing-impaired receiving devices. AlertOC is operated by the County of Orange in collaboration with local cities like Mission Viejo. Simply register your cell phone for calls and texts, email addresses and TDD/TY devices at AlertOC.com.
The distinctive feature of AlertOC is the ability for individuals to register multiple contact methods and addresses. Registrations of cell phone and alternate numbers dramatically increase the ability to reach the greatest number of community members within minutes. This enables landlines, cell phones and email addresses to be incorporated into a single notification system.
Mission Viejo residents can do their part to prepare for emergencies by registering for AlertOC at AlertOC.com.
