Notice to the Public and Request for Information

Subject to AS 35.05.850, the Southeast Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Bruce Jamieson

PROJECT NAME: LAS 30731

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: State-owned uplands on the northern bank of the Bradfield Canal across from Duck Point, approximately 35 miles southeast of Wrangell, AK.

LEGAL DESCRIPTION: Less than one acre of state-owned upland in SW1/4 NE1/4 Sec. 26, T. 65 S., R. 89 E. CRM, approximately 56.20786° N, 131.59926° W.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: Bruce Jamieson (applicant) is requesting a five-year Land Use Permit to allow for the year-round placement of a personal use, wood tent platform (12 feet by 16 feet, 192 square feet) for a collapsible, hard-walled tent, a wood outhouse (5 feet by 4 feet, 20 square feet), and the storage of subsistence fishing and hunting gear on one acre of state-owned uplands. The site is used seasonally (April - October) and the associated stored gear includes fishing gear, gill net, crab and shrimp pots, and a 16-foot jet boat. The tent platform and outhouse bases are built from treated lumber while the outhouse and tent are composed of lumber walls and tarp roof.

PROPOSED DATES OF USE:

Start: April 1, 2026

End: March 31, 2031

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: November 28, 2025

The public is invited to comment on this activity. The purpose of this notice is to gather input before a discussion is made on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at the Southeast Regional Land Office, 400 Willoughby Ave./PO Box 111020, Juneau, AK 99811-1020 on or before 5:00 PM on the date noted above.
