The Cedar Hill Fire Department recently celebrated a badge-pinning ceremony and swore in new hires and recently promoted fire personnel at the city council meeting. It was a great way to kick off the new year and showcase the department's commitment to serving the community.
Fire Chief Rafael Reyes introduced the department's newest members: Dezarai Spencer, Jacob Bastion, and Jack Kelberg. Calling them "shining stars," Chief Reyes praised their potential and excitement for joining the team as they officially took their Oaths of Office.
The event also recognized some big promotions within the department, highlighting the future leaders of Cedar Hill's fire crew. Hunter Southard, Cary Griffin, Oscar Vazquez, and Chad Richardson were honored in front of family, friends, and special guests. Badge-pinning moments were extra special, with loved ones participating-like Hunter being pinned by his father, Brian Southard, Fire Chief of DeSoto, and Cary by his brother, Dusty Griffin, a Battalion Chief in Waxahachie.
These moments not only celebrated individual achievements but also the team's dedication to keeping Cedar Hill safe. Chief Reyes wrapped up the ceremony by swearing in the promoted leaders, officially welcoming them into their new roles.
