Dear Older Philadelphians,
We understand that the recent stoppage of benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or changes to the SNAP allotment can be unsettling and stressful for older individuals and their families. Mayor Cherelle L. Parker and our City agency want you to know you if you are affected by the cutback in SNAP or other services affected by the Federal government shutdown, are not alone and help is available through the City of Philadelphia and partner organizations; there are resources that can help you keep food on the table and access to other vital supports intact - rental assistance programs, utility payment options, and more. Visit our City's information page, which provides updated information about SNAP and resources you can use. The Food and Meal Finder is a great resource to identify locations where you can obtain free food, nutrition, and public benefits.
