CTL Workshop: Brightspace Essentials Training Course for Instructors

CTL Workshop: Brightspace Essentials Training Course for Instructors

Center for Teaching & Learning Friday February 6, 2026

To support instructors preparing to teach online this summer - and in response to additional interest - we are offering an additional section of the Brightspace Essentials Training Course for Instructors this semester.

This certified, hands-on training equips participants with the essential skills to navigate and use the Brightspace Learning Management System. Participants will learn how to customize their course homepage, create and organize content modules, manage announcements and streamline communication with students. The course also covers setting up assignments, quizzes and discussion activities, as well as using the grade book and personalized learning tools to support student engagement.

This offering is ideal for instructors who are:

  • Preparing to teach online this summer.
  • New to Brightspace or seeking foundational support for online course delivery.
  • Returning to online teaching and looking to strengthen or revisit core Brightspace practices.

Participants will practice each skill and demonstrate proficiency using a sandbox course, and should bring an electronic device to actively participate in hands-on activities and complete proficiency components.

The workshop will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on March 5, 2026, in Library, room 376.

To attend, please register through our workshop registration form.
