Innovation in Action: Honoring Dr. Joy Godin's impact on Information Systems

Shaping the Next Generation of Digital Innovators

For more than 15 years, Dr. Joy Godin has demonstrated creativity and technological leadership in the College of Business & Technology at Georgia College & State University. As professor of Information Systems, she has helped the university stand out as a place where forward thinking ideas meet hands on learning and career ready skills.

A Legacy of Student Success

Much of Dr. Godin's influence shines through her work directing the SAP University Alliances Lab. More than 60 students have earned SAP Student Award Certificates under her guidance, and over 30 have completed Celonis Rising Star certifications. These accomplishments help students step confidently into a global job market that prizes real world systems experience.

Her support goes far beyond the classroom. Dr. Godin mentors undergraduate researchers, coaches national ERPsim competition teams and founded the university's first Women in Technology Day. This annual event brings high school students to campus to explore technology careers and strengthens the region's talent pipeline.

Teaching with Tomorrow's Tools

Whether she is introducing students to robotic process automation, data analytics, process mining, artificial intelligence or virtual reality, Dr. Godin has a knack for making complex concepts feel exciting and accessible. Her approach blends creativity with problem solving, giving students opportunities to learn through simulations, challenges and immersive projects. Her leadership in the WebMBA program has shaped one of the most respected online business programs in the region.

Researching the Future

Dr. Godin is also a prolific scholar whose work explores virtual teamwork, business process management, digital transformation and innovative teaching strategies. Her recent focus on how virtual reality and artificial intelligence enhance team collaboration has earned attention at conferences across the United States and Europe.

Recognized for Service and Excellence

Dr. Godin's leadership has been recognized at the local, state, and national levels. A past president of the Southern Association for Information Systems, she has received the SAIS Leadership and Service Award, the University Award for Excellence in Online Teaching, the University Award for Excellence in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, and the 2024 College of Business and Technology Excellence in University Service Award. She is also a two-time GA WebMBA Outstanding Faculty of the Year recipient.

Through her creativity, service and passion for innovation, Dr. Joy Godin continues to shape the future of information systems education and inspire the next generation of digital leaders.
