Events Celebrate The Grand Opening Of Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza
Two free concerts will be held this week to officially open Las Vegas Civic Center and Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza to the public. The new Las Vegas Civic Center is located at 525 S. Main St. and features the outdoor Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza.
The plaza serves as a gathering place for our community and is programmed with festivals, performances and more, right in the heart of downtown Las Vegas.

Paige and The Overtones

Born in the Mojave Desert, Las Vegas native Paige Overton has been singing and writing since she could make sound and hold a pencil. As frontwoman of The Clydesdale, a Las Vegas staple in the alternative country genre for 14 years, Paige has shared the stage with legends like Link Wray, Junior Brown, Dick Dale and Wanda Jackson, all the while paving the way for the slicker, much more refined project, Paige and the Overtones.
Meet the Artists: New Artwork at the Civic Center

Enjoy an evening with the artists who created the new public artworks at Las Vegas Civic Center. Through brief talks and open conversation, the artists will share insights into their practices, ideas, and the works currently displayed. Hosted by Vogue Robinson, the event will feature artists Tim Bavington, Chris Bauder, Erik Beehn, Gig Depio, Fawn Douglas, Sam Ganados, Trevor Ganske, Shawn Hummel, Alina Lindquist, Krystal Ramirez, Alexys Quezada, Sean Slattery, Brent Sommerhauser and Valentin Yordanov.
Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza Grand Opening Celebration
Saturday, Sept. 20, 11 a.m.-4 p.m.
Free and open to all.
Celebrate the grand opening weekend of the Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza with a day of live music performances, an array of tasty food vendors and locally brewed alcoholic beverages. The festival will feature artisan vendors; a kid zone with art activities and free face painting; food by Ole Manny's Seafood Shack, Southern BBQ Pit, Barfly Bites, Simply Pure, and Smokalicious Brisket BBQ; desserts by Super Chill; and beer by Able Baker.
The event will begin with an opening land acknowledgement and dancing from Fawn Douglas of Nuwu Art, followed by music by Jacob Smigel, B. Rose, The Dirty Hooks, & Home Cookin'. Bring a blanket or low-back chairs to be more comfortable on the plaza. The first 200 families will receive a free blanket. Event parking is available in the nearby 500 S. Main St. garage.
