The company to continue fostering next-generation talent in science and technology

SAMSUNG SDI announced today that it has signed an agreement with the Korea Foundation for the Advancement of Science and Creativity (KOFAC) and the Korean Chemical Society (KCS) to sponsor Korea's International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO) team.

The signing ceremony was held at the Korea Science and Technology Center in Seoul and attended by Hun Kyu Kim, Vice President and Head of the People Team at SAMSUNG SDI, Woo Sung Chung, President of KOFAC, and Kyo Chang Keum, President of KCS.

Starting in January next year, SAMSUNG SDI will support the training and selection of the Korean IChO team, organized by the Korean Chemical Society (KCS), and the team's participation in the international competition. The company will also provide scholarships to medal-winning students.

The sponsorship reflects SAMSUNG SDI's commitment to supporting young talent in basic sciences as they take on challenges on the global stage, while contributing to Korea's scientific and technological competitiveness and the development of the next generation of talent.

The International Chemistry Olympiad is an annual competition in which high school students from around the world compete in chemistry. Korea has sent a delegation to the competition every year since first participating in the 24th IChO, held in Pennsylvania, the United States, in 1992, and has consistently achieved strong results.

The 59th International Chemistry Olympiad is scheduled to take place in Taipei, Taiwan, from July 19 to 28 next year, with pre-registration set to begin in March.

"SAMSUNG SDI has continued its efforts to develop science and engineering talent through a variety of initiatives, including research support and educational sponsorship programs," said a SAMSUNG SDI official. "We will continue to foster next-generation talent in science and technology."

Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics sponsors Korea's teams for the International Mathematical Olympiad and the International Physics Olympiad, while Samsung Biologics and Samsung Bioepis sponsor Korea's team for the International Biology Olympiad.
