CHAIRMAN: Hon'ble Members, the 9th of August, 2026, marks the 84th Anniversary of the historic Quit India Movement, one of the defining milestones in our nation's freedom struggle. Launched under the leadership of the great Mahatma Gandhi ji on the 9th of August, 1942, the movement gave a decisive impetus to India's relentless quest for independence. The clarion call of "Do or Die" inspired millions of Indians across the country to rise above all barriers and unite in the common cause of securing freedom for the nation.
Despite facing severe repression, imprisonment and untold hardships, our freedom fighters displayed extraordinary courage, determination and unwavering commitment to the cause of India's independence. Their selfless sacrifices and steadfast resolve strengthened the national movement and paved the way for the country to attain independence in 1947.
As we commemorate this historic occasion, let us pay our respectful homage to all those who participated in the Quit India Movement and made immense sacrifices for the freedom of our motherland. Their ideals of patriotism, unity, sacrifice and dedication to the nation continue to inspire us in our collective endeavour towards building a strong, prosperous and inclusive India.
I am sure the Members of this House will join me in paying our respectful homage to the martyrs of our freedom struggle.
Hon'ble Members, I request you to rise in their places and observe silence as a mark of respect to the memory of the brave souls.
