Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua Meets with Ms. Juwairiya Saeed, Chairperson of the Maldives Cancer Society

On May 10, Chinese Ambassador to the Maldives Kong Xianhua met with Ms.Juwairiya Saeed, Chairperson of the Maldives Cancer Society, and her delegation at the embassy. The two sides held in-depth discussions on topics including cancer prevention and treatment, screening, public awareness, and public health capacity building.

Ms. Juwairiya Saeed introduced the work carried out by the association as well as the current situation and challenges related to cancer screening and the distribution of medical resources. She expressed hope to learn from China's experience in developing grassroots screening systems and enhancing specialized oncology care capabilities.

Ambassador Kong stated that China has long supported the development of the healthcare sector in the Maldives and is willing to continue expanding cooperation in health and medical fields with Maldivian government departments and civil society organizations as well. He also encouraged greater exchanges between professionals in both countries to help improve the Maldives' healthcare standards in a practical way.
